Today’s Feature: Military Parades

Donald Trump wants a parade. A “big, beautiful” military parade in Washington, D.C., ostensibly to celebrate flag day, which is also his birthday. It’s going to cost 45 million dollars and will be a show of military force in the streets of the capital. And in case the motive is missed, Trump outlined it himself: it’s going to be a parade of bombs and tanks and bravado: “We have the greatest missiles in the world. We have the greatest submarines in the world. We have the greatest army tanks in the world. We have the greatest weapons in the world. And we’re going to celebrate it.” No other US president has wanted such a large military parade to celebrate his birthday —…
